I tried to make it as modular as possible.
The cable harness will be fixed to the chassis only so that it can be removed in it’s entirety by simply disconnecting some connectors.
So the harness will have a fuse and relay bay, a loom running to the dashboard, to the aft lights, front lights, and a power section running to the battery and ignition key. Then there are only a few wires left to hook up the horn, and some sensors in the engine bay.

I selected the super seal connectors for the job, they are not the cheapest but they are quite durable and made for automotive.

I believe it has been two years ago my uncle asked me to put his crossbow in CAD. So over the past two years whenever I felt like it I worked on this medieval piece of engineering. And now it was finished enough to present this little project to the crossbow guild.

The car has rigid fuel lines running from the tank to the block. But I don’t like that very much inside the engine bay as I would like more flexibility to route the fuel lines around the block as I please. And since the rigid fuel lines are perfectly fine attached to the chassis through the tunnel I am going to leave that as is. This means that adapters are needed to change hose diameter and size in the engine bay. So I made some on the lathe.

Reassembled some cleaned up parts on it, replaced some seals, oil filter and thermostat.
Todo before mounting the engine:
– coolant piping
– finding and installing an alternator
– engine mounts

I went ahead and bought that nicer color and decided on Ford red.
So over the weekend Jan Jaap and I drove back to where the Cobra is parked and painted the block in the right color this time.
Not just a small improvement over the previous color right?

Finally started spraying the engine block with engine enamel.
Unfortunately when I bought the can of specialized paint they were all out of bright red so I bought one that I thought might be a bordeaux-red one. Unfortunately it turned out to be pink-purple. So I called it a day after spraying a small area, returned the next day and it still looked pink-purple. So that was that for the weekend and decided to buy a new can of a nicer color.

The most important thing to any job is using the right tools.
And when you can’t bring the tool to the car you have to bring the car to the tool, or at least part of it.

Moving an engine is difficult you say? Haha no way!
